π Lessons
What time do I need to report to work?
At minimum 15 minutes before lifts open. Sat & Sun: 8:15am, MonβFri: 8:45am.
When and where do Kids Program lessons meet?
Arrive by 9:45am. Lessons run 10amβ12pm (AM) and 1pmβ3pm (PM). Meet at Lion’s Den in the Main Base Lodge at Wildcat, or the 3rd floor of the Adventure Center at Attitash. You may be asked to arrive early for setup/check-in or to stay with your group during lunch.
What are the Adult Group Lesson times?
2-hour lessons begin at 10:30am and 12:30pm. Be at lineup 10 minutes before start time. Meet at the Ski & Ride School Sign at Wildcat, and the lesson flags at Attitash.
How do Private Lessons work?
Privates go out on the hour from 9amβ2pm, ranging from 1β6 hours. Arrive at lineup 10 minutes before your lesson. Meet at the Ski & Ride School Sign at Wildcat, and the lesson flags at Attitash.

Who do I contact for HR questions?
Contact PeopleConnect at 303-404-1900 or email PeopleConnect@VailResorts.com. They handle pay, benefits, onboarding, policies, and more.
How do I open an HR support case?
Submit and track HR cases through the Epic Employee HR portal at epicemployee.vailresorts.com.
Where do I get help with my I-9?
Search for article KB0034455 on the Epic Employee portal. Acceptable documents are listed at uscis.gov.
Who handles background checks?
Verified Credentials handles all Vail Resorts background checks. For questions or delays, call them at 952-985-7200.
Where do I find my employee handbook?
Access the Employee Handbook, NH Addendum, and Instructor Handbook through the Epic Employee portal. Spanish versions are also available.

When do I get paid?

How do I view my pay stubs?
Pay stubs are available in Workday under Personal>Benefits & Pay>Payments. If you need pay stubs dated before June 22, 2026, you will need to contact HR.
Who do I contact about a payroll issue?
Talk to your lead or manager and they will work with you an HR to find a solution.
How do I set up or change direct deposit?
In Workday under Personal>Benefits & Pay>Payments. Your payment elections will be listed at the bottom of the page.
What is considered a paid activity?
Ski & ride instructors only get paid when they are working. Work obviously means teaching lessons, but it can also be cleaning, helping with kids program check in, or working in another department.
What is not a paid activity?
Free skiing/riding in between lessons, lunch breaks and wait times in between lessons are not paid activities. If you would like to be paid for wait times, see a lead or manager to ask for a work assignment.
Do I get paid to boot up?
Yes, you can receive 15 minutes of pay to boot up and put your uniform on. If you are going free skiing/riding before the lesson, you will not get paid to boot up.
Do I get paid to boot down?
Yes, if you return to the locker room after the lesson is over to remove your equipment you will receive a maximum of 10 minutes of pay. If you go free skiing/riding after your lesson, you will not be paid to boot down.
When should I clock in and out?
Clock in no more than 15 minutes prior to lesson start time, and no more than 10 minutes after the lesson is over.
What should I do if I forgot to clock in or out?
Clock in and out for a few minutes and leave a note with the time(s) you missed.
Where do I pick up my paper paycheck?
Connect with your lead or manager to receive your paycheck.
What can I do during wait times between lessons?
During wait times, you are free to do whatever you want. You may go free skiing or riding, go to the store, hang out in the locker room or whatever you please. Please be back at line-up on time.
I am not getting the number of hours I’d like to be getting. Is there something I can do about this?
Talk with a lead or a manager about this. They may be able to find some other work tasks such as cleaning or helping in another department. We will do our best to find work for those to want it, but we cannot guarantee it.
How do I get paid for the online LIFT training?
Managers and leads track completion and will pay you for it. You do not need to clock in or out.
Is on-snow training paid?
On-snow training for new hires and returning staff at the beginning of the season is paid. Throughout the rest of the season, optional training is offered a both resorts. You can receive payment for one, two-hour training per month. All other training is considered optional and unpaid.
Where can I find my pay rate?
It is listed at the top of your pay stub.

How do I submit an IT support ticket?
Use the IT Connect Portal at itconnect.vailresorts.com to submit tickets, reset your password, and access IT resources.
Who do I call for urgent tech issues?
Call the IT Help Desk at 970-754-4357.
Can my ski school manager reset my password?
No β ski school managers and leads cannot unlock accounts or reset passwords. Contact IT directly via the IT Connect Portal or by calling the Help Desk.

What is the Lost Child Procedure?
All staff must be familiar with the Lost Child Procedure. The full procedure is available on the Policies & Procedures page.
What are the Kids on Lifts rules?
There is a specific Kids on Lifts Procedure and separate guidelines for Lift Operators β both available on the Policies & Procedures page.
Who must follow these procedures?
These procedures apply to all instructors, supervisors, and lift operators.
When do I wear my uniform?
Uniforms should be worn when teaching on the clock, and to the early morning trainings. Please do no free ski/ride in uniform, wear it to another mountain or to shops/restaurants in town.

PSIA/AASI Assessment Guides and Performance Guides for Levels 1, 2, and 3 are on the Training page on this website.
Do I get paid for training?
You can be paid for one training per month during the season.
Can anyone attend training?
Yes! All trainings have a targeted outcome or goal in mind, but any staff person is welcome to attend any training. Some trainings may be focused on individuals preparing for assessments, but others are always welcome to join.
Do I wear my uniform to training?
Uniforms should be worn to the early morning trainings at both resorts. All other trainings should be attended in your personal jackets. Excepts are made if you are joining immediately before or after a lesson or line-up.
If I am not scheduled to work, can I come to training that day?
Absolutely!
π PSIA/AASI Events & Certification
I want to start the certification process. How do I get started?
Connect with a trainer and share your goals. They will help you prepare and help you find the right trainings and assessments.
Do I get paid or reimbursed to attend PSIA/AASI events?
Regular educational events are not paid or reimbursed. Successful assessments are reimbursed.
I passed my assessment. How do I get reimbursed?

Do I get a pay raise for passing an assessment?
Yes! Connect with a lead or manager to discuss your new rate.
I need time off to attend an assessment or an update event. How does this work?
You may trade 2 days of your work commitment at Attitash and Wildcat for a PSIA/AASI Assessment or update event. Connect with a lead or manager.
